A university system's main source of strength is research, a faculty member's intellectual and creative pursuit that fosters advancement and innovation. The development brought about by research and development greatly adds to academic achievement. However, it might be difficult to foster and promote scientific brilliance through faculty-driven research in a multi-disciplinary and diverse university organisational structure. In this regard, the Mohan Babu University's Directorate of Research (DoR), formed as a facilitation centre, plays a crucial role in giving focused attention in leading and organising the research activities of the university's many departments and research centres. The Directorate's goal is to create an environment that supports the advancement of research excellence. This goal is accomplished through a variety of tasks, such as supporting the conception, planning, and execution of research projects as well as the coordination, oversight, and evaluation of student research.

The University has been able to break down disciplinary barriers and establish a broad-based instructional structure thanks to a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary research that crosses academic departments. The relationship between teaching and research is strong because it is based on the conviction that knowledge should be created (by research) rather than simply disseminated (by teaching). By establishing the core research agenda of the programmes ranging from basic and fundamental studies to applied and creative research, the University aims to be at the forefront of the discovery of new knowledge and new forms of creative expression.

Research Projects
Strong focus is placed on sponsored research, joint projects funded by international organisations, and active industry collaboration at MBU. The institute has built out the necessary infrastructure and contemporary labs. In addition, it has become clear that funded research is a key component in building infrastructure and bolstering capabilities in some of the newest technological fields. By taking on consulting jobs, the university's faculty keeps strong industrial ties. This involves diverse tasks like design reviews, product and process development, and troubleshooting. The faculty members also oversee short-term training programmes for certain companies in addition to these activities. The DAR is in charge of providing administrative assistance and project management for the many project types that the institute's faculty members undertake.
