IEEE Information Theory Society was started in 1951. It is an international premier professional society dedicated to the advancement of the mathematical underpinnings of information technology for the benefit of humanity. It has chapters and joint chapters throughout the world, which organize local events.
Information Theory encompasses the processing, transmission, storage, and use of information, and the foundations of the communication process. It specifically encompasses theoretical and certain applied aspects of coding, communications networks, cryptography, detection and estimation, and stochastic processes.
IEEE Information Theory Society at MBU provides many opportunities, including coding competitions, publishing journals, participating in conferences, and supporting student activities and the local chapter.
