The Seminar entitled “Different Types of Soaps and Their Impacts on Us in Daily Life”, presented by Y. Keerthi, 1st year B.Sc. Biotechnology student, delved into the fascinating world of soaps and their significance in our daily skincare routines. The discussion began with an exploration of soaps categorized by Total Fatty Matter (TFM). The quality of soap is directly related to its TFM content:

The right soap can enhance skin health and prevent issues. The seminar contrasted chemical soaps—which often contain allergens and irritants—with ayurvedic soaps, renowned for being chemical-free and suitable for all skin types. It was noted that,approximately 70% of commercial soaps contain chemicals that may lead to skin allergies.Keerthi recommended using mild body washes and face washes as more effective alternatives to bar soaps for daily use.
