The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in collaboration with the SPIKES CLUB of Mohan Babu University, organized an event titled, “Wordsmith Challenge” on 19th February 2025 from 2 P.M to 4 P.M at Room no 4218. This event aimed to provide a platform for students to exhibit their linguistic prowess, creative thinking, and storytelling abilities through a series of challenging rounds. The participants included students from I and II B. Tech (EEE), I BBA, and I BCA, all from the II Semester. A total of 40 students actively participated in the competition.
The event was meticulously coordinated under the guidance of Dr. B. Hemanth Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of EEE, alongside student coordinator Shaik Ismail, III B.Tech. Their combined efforts ensured a well-organized and competitive atmosphere, fostering enthusiasm and participation from all attendees. 40 students enthusiastically participated the event.
The “Wordsmith Challenge “comprised three dynamic rounds designed to test vocabulary, writing speed, creativity, and verbal expression.
Letter Sprint: In this round, contestants were provided with a specific letter and tasked with generating as many English words as possible within a set time limit. This round emphasized quick thinking and vocabulary strength, serving as a preliminary filter for the subsequent rounds.
Impromptu Writing Challenge: Participants were given a random prompt, which could be a phrase, picture, or scenario. They had ten minutes to craft a short story or essay within 100-150 words. This round tested their ability to think spontaneously, sharpened their imaginative storytelling skills, and honed their expressive writing abilities.
Storytelling Spotlight: The final round focused on spoken storytelling. Participants were given a thought-provoking theme and had to present an engaging narrative on stage. This round assessed confidence, clarity, and the power of verbal expression, allowing students to captivate their audience with compelling storytelling.
The Wordsmith Challenge was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of language, creativity, and the magic of words. The event encouraged participants to think on their feet, expand their vocabulary, and develop strong communication skills. Whether through quick word formation, impromptu writing, or verbal storytelling, students demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm and talent.
