The Plant Health Club at Mohan Babu University successfully organized a hands-on activity titled “Demonstration on Installation of Yellow Sticky Traps for Trapping Major Sucking Pests” on 31st January 2025 from 2.30 to 3.30 P.M at Bheemavaram Farm. This initiative aimed to educate students about eco-friendly and sustainable pest management techniques. The event provided practical insights into the significance and effectiveness of yellow sticky traps in monitoring and controlling sucking pests. The primary objective of the demonstration was to enhance students’ understanding of integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, specifically focusing on the role of yellow sticky traps in controlling pests like aphids, whiteflies, and thrips—common threats to crop health.
The Hands-on Activity was conducted under the meticulous guidance of Organizers, Dr. Pasam Maheshwara Reddy and Dr. Mediga Kasi Rao (Esteemed professor of School of Agriculture). 15 students proactively participated the event.
The session included the following key aspects: Introduction to Yellow Sticky Traps: Explanation of how these traps work and their benefits in sustainable agriculture. Identification of Target Pests: Discussion on the types of sucking pests that yellow sticky traps help control. Demonstration on Proper Installation: Step-by-step guidance on the placement of traps to maximize their effectiveness. Best Practices: Insights on how to maintain and monitor the traps for long-term pest management. Students gained practical knowledge on the installation and optimal usage of yellow sticky traps. The demonstration reinforced the importance of biological and eco-friendly pest control methods. Participants understood how these traps contribute to reducing pesticide dependency and promoting sustainable agriculture.
The activity was a great success, providing students with valuable hands-on experience in pest management techniques. The event underscored the significance of adopting environmentally friendly approaches in modern farming practices.
The Plant Health Club extended its gratitude to all participants and organizers for their enthusiasm and contribution to making this event successful.
