Involvement in Maintaining the Park Landscaping: Planting Trees and Green Space Management Organised by NSS UNIT School ofEngineering, MBU. Department of Mechanical Engineering
On November 2, 2024, Mechanical Engineering students from Mohan Babu University (MBU) proactivelyparticipated in a green initiative at SV Zoological Park, Tirupati, as part of a broader commitment to environmental stewardship. This initiative was a part of Week 3 of the NSS community project titled “Involvement in Maintaining Park Landscaping: Tree Planting and Green Space Management.”. Mr. Deepak Kumar, a Zoo official, warmly welcomed the group and provided guidance throughout the day. The project focused on enriching the biodiversity of the park through organized tree-planting activities and careful green space management. The students’ hands-on efforts included planting trees and maintaining the greenery, enhancing the park’s environment for both wildlife and visitors. This noble initiative contributed to the natural habitat, providing shelter and food for the animals, improving air quality, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for park visitors. The team also engaged in landscaping tasks that promote sustainable practices, like soil enrichment and efficient water usage, tailored to optimize plant growth in the region’s climate.
EDUCATIONAL AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: –
In addition to hands-on landscaping, the students participated in educational outreach, sharing knowledge with park visitors about the importance of green spaces and environmental conservation. This collaborative effort between MBU and SV Zoological Park aimed to inspire sustainable practices that benefited the local community and the environment, serving as a model for community-driven conservation initiatives.
OUTCOMES
Through direct participation, both students and visitors gained valuable hands-on experience in conservation, fostering a deeper appreciation for environmental sustainability. This partnership between MBU and SV Zoological Park embodies a proactive approach to environmental conservation, showcasing how community engagement and education can drive meaningful change for a greener, healthier future.
