BSc Cardiovascular Technology

BSc Cardiovascular Technology is a 3-year degree program that deals with diagnosing and monitoring diseases related to the heart and the circulatory system. In this program, students will get familiar with various complex procedures such as performing stent implants and setting up cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators in the treatment of heart diseases. The BSc Cardiovascular Technology syllabus includes subjects such as Human Anatomy, Cardiovascular Systems, Physiology, Pathology, Electrocardiography, and Echocardiography. This course also helps a cardiovascular technologist or technician to learn about the various procedures and tests while assisting the physician in diagnosing and treating a patient ailing from heart disease. Some of the complex procedures that a student learns in this course are implanting stents and setting up a pacemaker. They learn through this course, both invasive as well as non-invasive procedures in the treatment of heart diseases.

• Monitors patient’s blood pressure and heart rate using electrocardiogram (EKG) equipment during diagnostic or therapeutic procedures Obtains and records patient identification, medical history, or test results.

• Explains testing procedures to patients to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety. 
• Monitors the patient’s comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.
