The objective of the University Research Committee (URC) is to monitor, advice and provide assurance to the School Research Committee (SRC) on the quality of the research programs and activities of the University

Composition of URC and it's Function:

The composition of the University Research Committee (URC) will be as under:

  • Vice Chancellor
  • Pro Vice Chancellor
  • Two senior Professors from premier academic institutions
  • One scientist from R&D organizations
  • One scientist from industry
  • Dean of the respective school
  • Controller of the Examinations
  • Dean – Academic Research
  • Dean – R&I

The period of membership shall be for three years. The nomination of the members will be made by the Vice-Chancellor in consultation with Dean (R&I) and Pro Vice Chancellor. The URC meets at least twice in a year, and is responsible for all issues related to research policies and research activities. URC shall as well recommend new areas of research and further plan of action for the University.

Roles and Responsibilities

All policy matters concerned to promotion of research shall be approved by University Research Committee (URC). The University Research Committee to support and promote research by faculty, students and staff. The URC promotes research by recommending proposals for internal funding and examining proposals for submission to external sponsoring agencies. The Internal research funds are distributed as seed grants, start-up grants, or University challenge grants. URC also provides financial support to faculty for development of teaching material, participation in international conferences and recommends financial support for organizing national and international conferences.

A research policy has been framed to support, encourage, promote, and enable the conduct and dissemination of research by faculty, students and other academic staff.
