Tree Appreciation Club Insightful Event, “Understanding of Propagation Techniques Of Tree Species For Multiplication”

On the 23rd of January 2025, the Tree Appreciation Club of Mohan Babu University in collaboration with the School of Agriculture, organized an event titled “Understanding of Propagation Techniques of Tree Species for Multiplication” from 2.30 P.M to 4.30 P.M at Chandragiri Area. The activity aimed to educate and empower students with practical knowledge of propagating valuable tree species, including neem, teak, red sandalwood, bauhinia, and tamarind. This hands-on learning initiative emphasized the ecological and economic importance of these species, contributing to both environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture practices.

The event was coordinated under the consistent support and the guidance of the Faculty Advisor Dr. K. Mallikarjuna (Associate Professor of the Department of Agriculture). 20 enthusiastic participants from the diverse backgrounds attended the impactful session.

The event began with an awareness session led by faculty and guest experts, highlighting the significance of biodiversity conservation and the role of trees in maintaining ecological balance. Students were actively engaged in various practical sessions, which included: Seed Germination Techniques – Understanding the initial stages of tree propagation. Vegetative Propagation Methods – Learning grafting techniques and nursery care to ensure the healthy growth of saplings. Plantation Drive – Students planted saplings prepared during the event across the campus, contributing to its green cover. Hands-on Learning: Students practiced propagation techniques under the guidance of faculty and guest experts. The event left a lasting impression on participants, equipping them with practical skills and reinforcing the importance of biodiversity conservation. Follow-up activities are planned to monitor the progress of the planted saplings, ensuring their healthy growth and continued impact on the campus ecosystem.

This initiative by the Tree Appreciation Club successfully fostered environmental stewardship and enhanced students’ practical knowledge of tree propagation techniques.
